  • Nate's paid internship went through!!!!!!!!!! SO very relieved. Now he doesn't have to find a job, I don't have to work more hours and we won't have to pull money out of savings every month! Plus, he really wanted this particular internship. The flattering thing is that two other organizations were pulling for him to come "work" for them! I'm so proud of him! He's proactive, responsible, level-headed, honest, funny and kind. And seriously, extremely attractive. I'm just so in love with him. So in love!!!!
This photo has nothing to do with Nate's awesomeness, but I saw it up in my photo strip and realized that I never posted it.

I sat this mango on the counter and then went on with my business ... when I came back I noticed that a little mouse (named Mazie) had gotten to it.

So, I've decided to give cloth diapers a go-round again. I feel so guilty spending money on 'sposies and filling up the landfills. I've been working on figuring these gDiapers out that were gifted to me by a friend. I'm so inept. She said I could sell them and buy something different if I wanted (um, how generous and sweet is she??) so I spent a teeny bit of money on good ol' fashioned pre-folds and waterproof pants. Super cheap, super easy .... hope they super work.
I was showing Nate what I ordered and going into way too many details and he said, "This is the kind I wore. I know what you're talking about." I was like, "Oh, yeah. And you remember?"
Tomorrow night we're having people over for dinner and stuff. Can't wait!

The other night we ate dinner in a fort

Samson wanted to be part of the action

  • Hallelujah on the internship.  I am SO glad that worked out for you guys.

On the diapers, I am planning to do the trial from Jillian's Drawers.  It ends up costing you $10 by the end (you do pay more up front until you return them when you're done), but you get to try most of the top brands and see which work best for your baby's body.  I am leaning toward the flip system, but have had several different kinds recommended to me.  Figured this would be a good way to give them all a try.  If my baby is small to start out, I think I'm going with kissaluvs first, then once she's ready for normal-sized, I'll give the trial a go.  Take a look!

  • Thanks, Debbie.
The Flip looks similar to the gDiapers that I have. (Throw or wash the liner, reuse the cover) My friend (up there, above you in the comments) that gave the gDiapers to me might come over tonight so I'm going to ask for another tutorial.
I'll look into the Jillian thing. I just don't think diapering my child should be this complicated! (which is why my mom suggested the ol' prefolds and covers)
Please let me know what you end up liking the best, etc!

  • I hear you!  I feel like I've gone cross-eyed a few times from reading SO much stuff about them.  And everyone has a different favorite kind!  Researching any kind of purchase can eventually drive you crazy and it looks like cloth diapers may be one of the worst offenders! :)  That is one of the main reasons I like the trial from Jillian's Drawers.  While it is a chunk to pay to "borrow" the diapers, you're borrowing brand new ones and they send you, like, seven different brands to try out.  Once you ship them back, they refund all but $10 of your money.  A lot of the trials refund you in store credit.  Not as helpful...:)  Hopefully by trying several, I'll find the ones that I love and make me fully commit to cloth! :)  I'll let you know!  Let us know how the old fashioned kind goes...
